Chicago Marathon or "Good Form Clinic"

This is the form to use while running, imagine doing this for 26.2 miles!

Dennis Kimetto, from Kenya, won the race in course record time, 2:03:45, an average of 4:43.4 per mile!  The top four male finishers were from Kenya. American Dathan Ritzenhein was fifth in 2:09:45. Kimetto went through 13.1 miles at 1:01:52 with seven Kenyans around him. Amazing even split running.

Jeptoo Rita, from Kenya, second last year, won the women's race in 2:19:57. The top American female was Clara Santucci in 2:31:39 with former SUNY Geneseo star Melissa White 10th in 2:32:37.
Over twenty-one thousand runners finished the race.

Marathons

My prediction was wrong, but Ryan Hall was a factor in the Chicago Marathon and is still the USA's top marathoner after finishing in 2:08:04 on a sunny, warm day. Ryan ended up in 5th place. The winner, Moses Mosop of Kenya, ran a 2:05:38, good enough for a 38 second victory.

Russian Liliya Shobukhova ran the second fastest women's time ever, a 2:18:20. She was actually 13th overall in the race! The top American was 18 minutes back (Jeannette Faber), but she did earn the "A" standard and qualified for our Olympic trials race being held in January. Shobukhova secured a Russian Olympic team spot, won Chicago for the third time in a row and earned approximately $1 million for the day ($500k for being the top female in the World Marathon Majors series title, $ for the victory, $ for a course record and bonuses from Nike for the win and time).

Chicago Marathon

Our Chicago Marathon heroes, Jennifer and Lou Katz, finished the 26.2 mile tour on Sunday. Temperature at start time was about 60 and rose to 80 by mid-day. Jennifer finished in 3:53:13, good for 1594/15,997 females (top 10%) and 183/1548 in her age group.
Lou completed the course in 4:26:24, 9754/19,777 men and 309/865 in his age group. Congratulation to both.
The overall winner was Sammy Wanjiru of Kenya in 2:06:24 and the top female runner was Liliya Shobukhova of Russia in 2:20:25. Joan Benoit Samuelson, Olympic champion in 1984, qualified for another USA Olympic trial with a 2:47.
